Chelle's favourite nature experience Down Under?
I have so many but if I had to pick one experience that stuck as the biggest cherished core memory it would be the 3 Gorge Cultural Cruise in Nitmiluk National Park in Katherine, Northern Territory. It was the one that ignited my soul and passion to create Down Under Discoveries. It was without a doubt the most moving, spiritual experience I have ever encountered.

Support Guide & Head of Safety/Co Owner of Down Under Discoveries
Meet Dave, co-owner of Down Under Discoveries alongside Chelle, who is often involved in the essential behind-the-scenes work that keeps their adventures running smoothly. Occasionally you might see him stepping out to assist with hiking and paddling experiences, taking on roles as both lead guide and tail-end Charlie.
With a deep connection to the outdoors, Dave is committed to ensuring everyone is safe and supported during their adventures. His motto, "nobody gets left behind," reflects his dedication to helping others complete their experiences, often slowing his pace to assist those who need it. Dave has completed significant courses in navigation, bush survival, and reptile handling, enhancing his skills in outdoor safety and survival. In addition to his basic certifications in first aid and four-wheel driving, he brings over 10 years of experience in delivering nature-based tourism experiences.
A major milestone in his outdoor career was completing the World Class Munda Biddi Trail, and he is keen to tackle it a second time with the new alignments made since his last journey.
As a crucial support person, Dave's role is pivotal to the success of their ventures. He provides invaluable support during multi-day experiences and handles much of the preparation and logistics for upcoming events.
Dave's favourite nature experience Down Under
Last-minute adventures to Wongan Hills in Australia's Golden Outback. We camped under an amazing starry night sky, and set off early the next day for the 8 km Mt Matilda walk trail in the Wongan Hills Nature Reserve. The trail has many highlights but what made this hike truly memorable was encountering a thorny devil. Also known as the mountain devil, thorny lizard, or thorny dragon, seeing this remarkable creature in the wild for the first time was one of those experiences you just had to be there for to understand.

Sophie Fisher
Support Guide, Customer Service & Family Adventure Collective Leader
Meet Sophie, the youngest of the Down Under Discoveries tribe, who has been an integral part of the business since its inception in 2011, forming many core memories with both local and international visitors alike in destinations that many would envy. There's a saying about seeing through a child's eyes, and Sophie embodies this during their adventures. Her childlike curiosity and enthusiasm bring a unique and refreshing perspective to every experience.
Sophie has often taken on the guiding role, supported by the Down Under Discoveries team, and her dynamic presence adds a special touch to each journey. Sophie has completed several courses including navigation, outdoor self-defense, first aid, bush survival, and reptile handling. She has been fortunate to learn from Vanessa Paget, (Survival Expert Bob Cooper's wife), gaining significant knowledge during her time with her.
As she nears adulthood, Sophie is stepping into a more permanent role within the family business. She is part way through her tourism studies, with a Certificate III in Tourism, gaining qualifications that will enhance her tourism skills and knowledge.
Although she sometimes jokes about having hiked too much in her life, Sophie has a deep love for the outdoors. Mention Bluff Knoll, and she'll be ready to tackle it in a heartbeat. Her passion for nature and dedication create a beautiful dynamic within the industry, promising enriching experiences for all who join her on their adventures.
Sophie's favourite nature experience Down Under?
I also have quite a few but if I had to pick one that I think about a lot, it would be experiencing the Great Barrier Reef. I was really young and it was my first time snorkeling, I had a massive fear being in the water but something about the reef instilled calmness in me, even more so when we later explored it via a submarine. It was truly amazing to see all the marine life swimming past, a memory I will treasure forever.

Meet Jayden, a cornerstone of the Down Under Discoveries tribe. Many of you might recognize him from one of our early Perth Hills hiking experiences where he often served as a Tail-End-Charlie, ensuring everyone enjoys the journey at their own pace. Jayden's passion for the outdoors began early, leading him to study outdoor education in high school and successfully complete the Cape to Cape trail in the southwest. Now, as a father to two young girls, he is dedicated to instilling the family's love for nature in his children, frequently taking them out to explore, creating cherished memories and fostering a deep connection with the environment. Jayden is also an avid 4x4 enthusiast, exploring Western Australia's diverse tracks. On weekends, you'll likely find him on road trips with his swag and family in tow, relishing all that nature has to offer. With the expansion of Down Under Discoveries' offerings, you will likely find Jayden involved in our water-based experiences, ensuring water lovers have safe and enjoyable adventures. Jayden's favourite nature experience Down Under
Jayden has two favourite nature experiences in Western Australia that he can't choose between: the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk and the Margaret River Caves. The treetop walk offers a unique perspective of the forest, allowing you to see the world from the canopy and experience the majesty of ancient trees up close. The Margaret River caves, on the other hand, provide an awe-inspiring underground adventure, showcasing stunning formations and the mysterious beauty hidden beneath the surface.

Adam's favourite nature experience Down Under?
One of Adam’s most memorable nature experiences was the high hill climb of Mount Hassell, shortly after the 2019 fires that almost wiped out the entire Stirling Range. He loves the challenge of high hill climbs, cherishing the views from the top and the sense of accomplishment that comes from such a challenging hike.
