East Point Reserve - Mangroves to Monsoon: A Forest & Ocean Therapy Walk

Experience Overview

A mindful nature immersion experience to restore calm, reduce stress & reconnect with the natural world.

For those seeking a deeper immersion, this extended walk offers a journey through the heart of Darwin’s most diverse coastal and forest ecosystems.

Beginning at the East Point Mangrove Boardwalk, we step into a landscape shaped by one of the most significant tidal ranges in Australia. With fluctuations of up to 8 meters, these tides dramatically transform the mangrove environment - at times revealing intricate root systems and mudflats, and at others, submerging the forest floor beneath ocean waters. Elevated above it all, the boardwalk offers a safe and intimate window into this ever-changing world providing us the opportunity to slow down and tune in.

From here, we transition into the East Point Monsoon Forest, walking the revitalised Monsoon Walk trail, a living sanctuary where wallabies, bandicoots, brushtail possums, reptiles, butterflies, and over 130 bird species thrive. Keep an eye out for active jungle fowl nests nestled in the undergrowth, a rare chance to observe these elusive creatures up close.

As the forest opens, we journey toward East Point Cliffs, following a gentle trail past Pandanus Groves, and rock pools as we make our way along the stunning coastline to Dudley Point. Along the way, this dramatic coastline reveals the raw beauty of nature’s process, with cliff faces sculpted by wind and waves into unique rock formations that hold stories of time and tide.

Throughout the walk, Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide and Eco-Guide Chelle Fisher will offer a series of mindful invitations drawn from the practice of Shinrin-yoku. These gentle, sensory-based exercises help participants reconnect with self, Country, and the present moment - engaging breath, stillness, and curiosity along the way.

We complete our journey with a sunset bush tucker–inspired nibbles & tea, allowing time for reflection and connection as day fades into night.

It is then a short 15-minute walk back together, gently closing our experience with a renewed sense of presence and peace.

Whether you’re a local looking to see East Point through new eyes or a visitor seeking a soul-nourishing nature immersion, this Elemental Flow experience will leave you feeling grounded, revitalised, and deeply connected to the Top End’s elemental beauty.
