Estuary Paddle n Pint

Kayaking Tour

Tour Overview

Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Mandurah’s estuary with our Estuary Paddle n Pint Kayaking Tour, a guided four-hour experience that weaves together breathtaking scenery, local wildlife, and a touch of indulgence.

Setting off from the Western Foreshore, we'll paddle along the Mandurah Estuary, guiding you past lush, bird-rich wetlands, along the captivating foreshore of Sticks Channel where every turn reveals new layers of vibrant ecosystems. Glide across serene waters, keeping an eye out for Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins that often join the adventure, along with graceful black swans, soaring pelicans, and stingrays gliding beneath.

Our journey sees us paddling across the Ramsar listed Peel-Harvey Estuary. The Peel Inlet and Harvey Estuary is the largest and most diverse estuarine system in the south-west of Western Australia and is part of the Peel-Yalgorup Ramsar System which supports residential and migratory waterbirds as well as providing habitat for fish breeding and nursery grounds for fish and crustacea, many of which we will see whilst traversing over to Boundary Island, a peaceful oasis inviting you to stretch your legs and soak in panoramic views.

From Boundary Island, we’ll make our way to the award-winning Boundary Island Brewery, where you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch paired with a refreshing pint while taking in stunning estuary views. With bellies full and spirits high, we’ll embark on a leisurely return paddle, passing Channel Island and the Creery Wetlands, where ospreys often soar above and wildlife flourishes.

Additional Information

Can I consume more than 1 beverage at our lunch stop?

Guests need to remain under the legal driving limit to operate the kayak safely on their return therefore we ask that you drink responsibly and keep within your tolerance level. We provide 1 drink only, any extra purchases will be at your own cost. Anyone found to be at risk of being intoxicated may need to seek alternative transport back to the Western Foreshore at your own cost.

Paddle length & difficulty

This is a moderate paddling experience approx 8kms, however its important to note that at times the current can be a little strong and may need a little bit of muscle to move in the direction we need to travel.

Some paddling experience is recommended to maximise your enjoyment however in most cases we do travel in double kayaks so you may be paired with another paddler, should you not already be in a pair. We provide you a safety briefing and show you how to paddle our very stable sit-on top kayaks.

Toilet & Parking facilities

Toilets are available at the start, middle and end of the paddling experience.

Parking is available at either the Mandurah Bridge Carpark or the Western Foreshore Carpark, both easy to find using Google or Apple maps. I have personally never had issues here but a reminder to never leave valuables in your car.

Is the tour child friendly

Unfortunately this tour is not recommended for children 15 and under. A child 16 and over may join at concession prices.

Do the kayaks have weight limits?

Yes. Your safety is important to us therefore we must stick within our equipment carrying capabilities.

Our single Dream Kayaks have a weight limit of 130kg

Our double Dream Kayaks have a weight limit of 210kg

Are Double Kayaks easy to navigate?

Double kayaks can be a great way to share the paddling experience with a friend or family member. However, it is important to keep in mind that paddling a double kayak can be more challenging than a single kayak. When choosing a double kayak it's important to consider that it requires good coordination and communication between both paddlers to ensure smooth and efficient movement. If you and your partner are new to kayaking, a double kayak might be more difficult to handle, so it can be beneficial if at least one of you has some paddling experience. Double kayaks also require more effort, especially in windy or strong current conditions, so ensure both paddlers are physically prepared for the challenge. Maintaining balance and synchronizing your strokes are crucial for a stable and enjoyable ride. We provide a short video with tips for paddling a double kayak successfully prior to the tour to help you get the most out of your experience.

What happens if it is too windy?

If we need to cancel due to weather conditions (too windy), alternative dates will be offered. If you purchased your tour directly through Down Under Discoveries and there is no suitable alternative date available for a cancelled tour, we are more than happy to arrange a refund for you.
